Expansion Project of KIKDA
The patients of chronic kidney diseases CKD are increasing rapidly. To facilitate the maximum number of poor and needy kidney patients in our hospital Karachi Institute of kidney diseases Association started its extension project, initially we are extending our ICU, Operation Theaters and General Wards. After the completion of this project our capacity will be increased to 100 beds which will defiantly help us to cater more kidney patients FREE OF COST
where this extension project will facilitate thousands of patients every month, it will also create a major increase in our expenses.

Expansion Project of KIKDA
The machine was incorporated in the year 2021, the cost of this machine is around 10.2 million PKR, this is the latest instrument which allows to access inside the kidney through urinary track to break the kidney stone, currently this machine is operated in 4 top of the list private hospital. the procedure through this machine cost minimum 300,000 PKR in private sector. KIKDA provide this facility free of cost to the poor patients.
This medical gadget was included is this year, this is specially designed instrument for pediatric surgery, new we are enabled to treat child with renal diseases.
this is another medical instrument used in pediatric surgery of kidney, now we have upgraded our urology department to start peds renal surgeries.
Uroflowmetry test measures the flow of urine. It tracks how fast urine flows, how much flows out, and how long it takes. It’s a diagnostic test to assess how well the urinary tract functions, the instrument which perform this test is called Uroflow Meter, this machine is also available in KIKDA and the test is free of charge for everyone,
Establishment of new Department of General Surgery
KIKDA has started general surgery facility for its patients, we are performing Laparoscopic-cholecystectomy (Gallbladder Removal) and Hernia, Consultant clinics of general surgery conduct thrice a week. we also have construct new surgical ward with 6 beds capacity.
Future Plans
Kidney Transplant service
Our ultimate goal is providing free of cost Kidney Transplant services to the needy kidney patients, we have applied for the land in education city to construct a new surgical block for Kidney transplant, 40 acers land approval is in process and we hope the land will soon allot to KIKDA for the expansion.
City Wide Collection Units
Lab test is initial and very important step in diagnosis of any disease, to facilitate poor and needy patients we plan to set up citywide network of Lab collecting units, initially this facility will be cover govt hospitals which have most footfall to poor and needy patients, later it will be expanded to rural areas as well, the facility will be free of cost.
Establishment of Vascular Surgery
In more than 98 percent of public and private hospitals in Karachi and Sindh, the facility of vascular surgery (operation of arteries) is not available. Due to the rush of patients and very expensive treatment in the private hospitals that are providing this facility, most of the dialysis patients are forced to live a very painful and patient life. Vascular surgery department is being established to improve the quality of life of these people and make the remaining life peaceful. This includes the treatment of all vascular (arterial) problems of dialysis patients including fistula formation and all its complications. Initially we required state-of-the-art medical equipment that worth around Rs 6 crore and the monthly expenditure will be around Rs 7,000,000.
Karachi Institute of Kidney Diseases Association is the 2nd Largest kidney hospital in Karachi providing free-of-cost healthcare facilities to the poor and needy Kidney patients.
